What's Really Been Stolen?
A classmate of mine posted a snapshot of this photo on Facebook today with the caption, “It’ll never be the same…for me!!!” I replied, “Ruined it!”….
What's Going On
Excerpt: I have white friends, I have a white sister-in-law, half of the members at my church are white and the majority of my blog readers are white, all with whom I'm careful in what I say or write about because I don't want to be misunderstood....
My Week, In Reverse
Thank you for being a holiday. I wish I could say I was chillin' but weather kinda of threw the weekend off. I'm gonna take a break to blog before I figure out what's for dinner....
The Elephant in the Blog Room...
I like to come here and just let whatever roll off the keyboard, staying clear of controversial topics and current events. Lots of times I come here to write and I can't because there's an elephant in my blog room. Today I put on my big girl panties and hoisted myself on the elephant to stream from my conscience.
Grasping At Straws...
With a futile attempt at blogging and being relevant, I gave myself a few minutes to "stream" from "my conscience". It's been a week since so much has happened...
The Point of it All...
I love writing in my room and as much as my thoughts scrounge for something relevant to write about, coming up with nothing, I can't stay away too long...
This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you...
No I'm not quitting blogging. I'm talking about dealing with back to school and all that comes with dealing with BACK TO SCHOOL. #icantEVEN
Hate in America
Hate in America is not just about crime. If you read any of the comments to news articles online, you'll see how insensitive people are. It spells H-A-T-E to me. There's been a lot going on this week and I just had to vent somewhere...
I'm Vain...
This post took more than five minutes with all the bells and whistles ("pictures", bold, italics and spellcheck). But this was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post on being vain. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump.
5 Minutes: No sleep
I'm squeezing in a stream of consciousness post before my day gets hopping.
Oh it's already been hopping.
Here's that story...
A Terrible Privilege...
This post was unexpected. Almost a month ago I shared my story about a compassionate teacher with #1000Speak. My daddy shared it on Facebook several times. One of his friends commented how he could relate to my story because he had attended an all white school before schools were desegregated. He called it "a terrible privilege". I could relate.
Goodnight Roses...
As I turned off the lights in the kitchen, I left on one small light. I looked back and decided to take a picture of my roses because they looked pretty in the dim light. Of course the phone flash went off and I didn't feel like trying to figure out how to get the picture of how they really looked.
My day in 5 minutes...
I just had a funny thought. I said, “I don’t have time to write a stream of consciousness post right now. I’ll write a long post later.” What kind of sense does that make?
This one is five minutes of my time. By the time I add the bells and whistles to the other one I want to write, it’ll likely be an hour or more out of my day.
Homeschooling Black History...
I shared this quote this week along with a response to some interview questions I asked of my ten-year-old son. While it is a powerful quote from a ten year old, I also found it disheartening because I understood it's full context. This is a stream of consciousness post.
Writing in the raw...
Fadra’s stream of consciousness (SOC) link up is back! Part of my “research” this morning was to find out how long it’s actually been since the last one. I don’t know if it was THE last one, but the last time I linked up with Fadra was July 1, 2012. I said, “Wow, I’ve been blogging a long time.”
I don’t think I’ll go all share crazy on my SOC posts. It’s connected to mailchimp, which will share to facebook and twitter. I think I’ll turn off that feature for SOC Sunday. So what happens in mailchimp will stay in mailchimp. If you’re an e-mail subscriber, you’ll get first dibs.
I'm going in...
I'm diving into a stream of consciousness here. Bare with me. My computer, still hasn't recovered from crashing last month. She's unstable to write on, so I can't really relax and write if I have to keep saving as I go just in case the computer shuts down. I'm already burnt to a crisp from losing stuff. But a girl's got to write, right?
Dear Sunday: August 24, 2014
The one in which I talk about the clothesline and Hanx writer.
Are We There Yet?
The pollen was so bad this year that three weeks ago Papa Bear growled at me to go to the doctor. I obliged after buying an $8 nasal spray because my nose was on lockdown. I am feeling better now, and with all the rain we had last week, the yellow stuff is gone. YAY! I've been waiting on the Spring that I can get out and play in.
There's no business like 'yo' business...
The quickest way to lose yourself is to forget yourself. The quickest way to forget yourself is to lose yourself.
It's a vicious cycle I am all too familiar with.
One day I'm writing, then I'm setting it aside and setting it aside until one day, it doesn't seem that important anymore. The reason for it seems irrelevant. Then one day I'm not writing at all and I wonder how I ever made time for it.
Irrational Fears: Being afraid for my life...
Yesterday, I saw the aftermath of an unrecognizable car that was still smoking as I passed by. No EMS on the scene yet.
I moved with the flow of traffic to get home. I was less than five minutes away, I was going to be sick.
