This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you...
No I'm not quitting blogging. I'm talking about dealing with back to school and all that comes with dealing with BACK TO SCHOOL. #icantEVEN
It's Mother's Day in July...
I’ve virtually written and crumpled several posts over the past couple weeks. But today everything was just right in Mama Bear’s world (headlines excluded) and that is when I like to write. Today’s weather and writing in it was like biting a piece of chocolate when I've been on a diet - except chocolate is never excluded on a diet.
Hot Flashes and a Rambling Brain
I didn't know what to title this one. I am up in the middle of the night taking advantage of a hot flash and a rambling brain. I'm talking about wine, allergies, asparagus pee, uninvited guests, To Kill a Mockingbird, the N-word, the Confederate flag and the KKK.
How do I love thee...
I'm talking about ice cream. I could count it 31 ways and go on and on to the tune of Bubba talking about shrimp... but this isn't that kind of story.
Let's get together and feel all right...
I didn't realize how badly we needed a vacation until Papa Bear and I were in the middle of the ocean giving one another salt water kisses. One Love is the theme song for the vacation we just had...
Hate in America
Hate in America is not just about crime. If you read any of the comments to news articles online, you'll see how insensitive people are. It spells H-A-T-E to me. There's been a lot going on this week and I just had to vent somewhere...
My Daddy: Roasted & Toasted
We aren't mushy, chatty, huggy, or kissy. It just hasn't ever been our thing. I mostly remember him saying, "Gimme five" and me slapping his hand in return. And yes there was that once upon a little girl who talked him to death...
"Love you to pieces."
It was bedtime and we'd had a one on one evening because it's Papa Bear's bowling night.
Since there's only two days of school left I let Christopher play outside until 7:45 then we went to run an errand and go to Sonic (our new favorite place).
As I kissed him on the cheek he said,
Healthy Blog Fodder: Matcha better than last week
Green people are following me on Twitter
I assume it's from me sharing my Yummly recipe collection 50 Shades of Green Smoothies (504 so far) or the ones I've actually made and shared on Instagram. Either way, they think I'm healthy. So I needed to post something on top of last weeks Belgian Waffles and South Carolina Moonshine.
Belgian Waffles & South Carolina Moonshine
Well I finally got tired of my last post being my last post that looked my last post, so here I am with a new one fresh off of writer's block. While I was away, I changed my blog design for the 100th time. I wish I could paint and redecorate my office with a few strokes of html and css.
This Whole Blog Is A Masquerade
I won't pretend that I read/watch the news and know everything that's going on in the world. Most times I get my news from Facebook. Sometimes the stories and what people have to say about them slaps me in the face. It's the big stories, the stories that are close to home, the stories that have gone viral, and the ignorant comments shared about those stories that affect me the most.
Wordless Discipline
My mother is the strong silent type. If she ever had to say or do anything to get her point across, you had pushed her to her limit. Her eyes were her weapon. For very serious matters it was, "Wait until your daddy gets home." But for me, her eyes carried more weight than daddy's spanking ever would.
Photos in the Cloud
Sharing a post like this just got a little easier for me. A couple weeks ago, one of Apple's updates to the Mac (OS X Yosemite) included photos in the cloud. Now I don't have to email the iPhone photos to myself so that I can blog them. The only downside is that there's a lot of photos that I don't mean to keep forever. You know like pictures of my feet...
A Love/Hate Relationship Story
It was January of 2012 when I took this picture. It was my attempt to say goodbye to my snacks and remember them as they were. I can't believe all these snacks were ever in my house all at once for this photo op. In my defense, I did not buy all of those. Some had been given to me weeks prior for my birthday.
Mother of Son: Guilty as charged.
I had an aha moment and realized that husbands are helpless patients when they are sick because their mother's babied them.
I can just picture my mother-in-law as I was this weekend.
That moment when you're trying to read...
Yesterday, I wanted to keep Christopher inside to minimize his pollen exposure until he left for an outdoor birthday party. I was also trying to read a book and it was good!
The Secretary Has A Story
Hopefully if you're reading this post, you're picking up where I left off with my last one, A Photo Story featuring The Secretary.
If not, you're not missing any background story, except for knowing who "the secretary" is. While I was writing for the Finish the Sentence Friday prompt, I dug up a bit of history by asking my mom a question. By the time I got to "The Secretary" in my post - I had another story to tell.
A Photo Story featuring "The Secretary"
I have a whole photo album of pictures I stole from home after I got married and my husband and I were moving out of the country. I can always remember how old I was by looking at my hair. This picture was taken on Christmas morning 1984. I was in the 9th grade and had just turned fourteen...
Eyebrows 101: DIY
Remember my post a couple weeks (2 posts ago) about being vain? As you see I have no problem sharing this photo. There seems to be a difference in sharing a photo that you tried really hard to look good for and one that took no effort at all. 'Sup with that? Anyhoo... Let's talk eyebrows...
I Get Ocean Withdrawal
I'm not a beach person per se, but I do love the look, the smell and the sound of the ocean.
I grew up just a few short hours from Myrtle Beach and Charleston, South Carolina. My family would go to the beach at least once during the summer for a day trip or a weekend and I was always in awe of the ocean.
