It’s not a weave, wig or hair extensions

Did the title bring you here or my flair for telling a story?

2003 - Mr. & Mrs. J a year before baby bear. Little did we know the little one we worked so hard for, would finally be here in 2004! (digital background, I would never have purple carpet)

I started to make the title Remembering Christmases Past but I didn’t feel like researching whether Christmas’ or Christmases was grammatically correct. Additionally Christmas has been shoved down our throats since the day after Halloween (or before in the case of Walmart) so I didn’t want to scare anyone away.   I’m not there yet. The fact that two families in our neighborhood put up house lights two weeks ago has slowed me down.

My husband is a photographer (outside of being a Marine). He is also the once a year photographer for our family. That means I BEG him to take the holiday photos.  In most of these, we were looking at the camera on the tripod.

2004 - A tired Mama bear, with a 10lb newborn baby bear. Papa bear and Granddaddy bear took forever to set up for photos. I tried everything short of holding baby bear upside down to keep him awake. It didn't work.

2006 - Found one to scan - WHEW! Original file MIA or on a crashed harddrive.  Baby bear was looking at Baby Einsteins. It was the only way we could get him to sit still and look in the right direction.

2007 - It's not a weave, wig or hair extensions! This was the best photo of many. Baby bear wasn't feeling it. He had tears in his eyes. Meltdown followed.

2008 - Baby bear cooperates. Papa bear cuts off my boots in the shot (the important part).

2009 - Papa bear was deployed. Photo courtesy of Granddaddy bear. (It's not a wig). This was my favorite hairstyle but it looked REALLY bad on a bad hair day.

Here’s the thing… the tree is out of the attic; that’s a start. We took our 2011 family picture yesterday. That’s MAJOR! Stay tuned for a wordless or wordy Wednesday, a little closer to Christmas, when I may or may not tell how Papa bear and Baby bear had to be bribed to take this years Christmas photos on a hot November day.

Remembering our loved ones...
