Writing in the raw...

Writing in the raw...

Me to my computer, “I just need you for 5 minutes. Can you handle that?”

Today she speaks in a lower class British dialect (because Downton Abbey was the last thing I watched) “Well, go on then.”

Fadra’s stream of consciousness (SOC) linkup is back! Part of my “research” this morning was to find out how long it’s actually been since the last one. I don’t know if it was THE last one, but the last time I linked up with Fadra was July 1, 2012. I said, “Wow, I’ve been blogging a long time.”

Of course I have been blogging since 2010 really, if you can count something like three posts in one year as blogging. My first post is dated 2010.

Anyway back to the writing in the raw, I’ve linked up with other SOCs over the years but Fadra’s linkup always felt like home. Perhaps it was because at the time I had less readers and I wrote more freely (if that makes sense).  I just didn’t worry about who was reading it.

I don’t think I’ll go all share crazy on my SOC posts. It’s connected to mailchimp, which will share to facebook and twitter. I think I’ll turn off that feature for SOC Sunday. So what happens in mailchimp will stay in mailchimp. If you’re an e-mail subscriber, you’ll get first dibs. Oh and I suppose the other RSS feed readers get first dibs too.

But perhaps knowing it won’t be published to facebook the minute I click submit, I can relax a bit more into my five minutes. Well I’ve written 5 minutes, but I think this is going to have to be the intro this week.  Since I’ve decided to go on. Let me save this before my computer says times up. She’s not been feeling well.

Fingers on the keyboard, go!

Did you know if you have your iPhone plugged in you can say, “Hey Siri, 5 minute timer please” without touching the phone? So I didn’t have to fumble with that. But now I’ve wasted time letting you know.

So anyway can I tell you how good I already feel about this. I already wake up before the house but this morning I had to make sure to get up extra early. I wake up early seven days a week. On Saturday’s I do it just for the quiet time.

My son is playing basketball and fortunately since he’s ten now, the games are later than they used to be. No rushing on Saturday morning for basketball. Yesterday his game was a 1:00.

Some of you read the early on posts about how I didn’t like his basketball coach. Basically it was a communication thing. It’s still a communication thing and I had decided that he was a good coach and that I liked him after all because he was good with the kids. Then the communication got worse and I decided not to like him all over again. I’ve also decided he’s not that great with the kids. Christopher loves basketball and he really likes his coach, "He's hard on me but not mean" he says. So I have to keep my dislike feelings to myself on that one.

Christopher got a basketball goal this week. Dang I wanted to tell you more about it, but TIMES up!

I’m gonna get better at this, I promise. See I shouldn’t even be worrying about that right? This writing in the raw is not supposed to be over-thunk.

Wow am I really going to click save and publish without reading this over 10 times? Yup!

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Link your new posts to All Things Fadra (feel free to use her SOC Sunday graphic).
