It can’t be much longer before Apple releases its “coming this fall” update called iCloud. Recently, I was looking for something I wrote ten years ago. I feared that it might be trapped on a floppy disk. While I was digging in my own lost and more lost, I found paper journals, Iomega zip disks, and a ton of floppy disks because I once owned a Sony Mavica camera with the floppy disk drive.
With the help of a friend, who still had a computer with a floppy disk drive, I discovered that all my disks were empty. I am not sure why I saved the old disks, but the good news is I had moved the files to compact discs in 2003. Now in 2011, I have a ton of CD’s so valuable with photos and documents that I keep them in a fire safe. I have countless thumb drives and compact flash cards that are one cleaning spree away from being swiped into the trash; accidentally.
Sometime “soon” Apple will provide 5GB of free storage when you sign up for iCloud! I will have plenty to discuss, so get ready for the change in forecast!
