Tricks of the mom trade & football...

Dear Sunday,

Trick

I learned once upon a time ago, if I hide my laptop in the middle of a basket full of laundry to fold and walk towards my bedroom, no one would come looking for me.

If I walk back here with just my laptop, then I probably wouldn’t have 5 minutes. Isn’t that something?

So that’s what I did today, so that I could write my 400 word stream of consciousness post.

Football

Yesterday was what I’ll now call football Saturday until there are no more football games. It seems like you spend all day Saturday getting ready for it and then there’s two hours for the game. Well yesterday it was stormy - raining, sometimes with lightning. As our game time approached, we heard that the other team left. The other team were our rivals and our side was extremely all in and ready to play. We heard that the other side said, there weren’t letting their boys play in “this”. Fine with me, I didn’t want to be in “this” either, but at the time I had already invested half a day in being there. So naturally I was a little peeved.

One of the league people said, they were going to make some phone calls and make sure the other was really gone and forfeiting the game. For all they knew they might be all in their cars in a parking lot waiting for the rain to let up. Long story short, about 20 minutes after the game was supposed to start the storm had passed and the rival team came back. The game was on and would start in 25 minutes.

My son plays offensive right tackle. I hope I wrote that correctly. I don’t know if it’s offensive or offense right tackle. I don’t worry so much about his position because I know he can hold his own and no one is going to smash him. I do hold my breath for boys who have the ball or who are running after who has the ball.

Yesterday’s game was tense. I could have done without knowing that they were our rival team and that they we good.

By the end of the game, I had to ask myself, "how much of a lead do we have to have in order for me to relax?"

Well both teams were good, but our team was way better. While I don’t normally have a picture for the SOC post, I had one to include today.

Good day Sunday - 417 words,

Kenya
