Wordless Discipline
My mother is the strong silent type. If she ever had to say or do anything to get her point across, you had pushed her to her limit. Her eyes were her weapon. For very serious matters it was, "Wait until your daddy gets home." But for me, her eyes carried more weight than daddy's spanking ever would.
Photos in the Cloud
Sharing a post like this just got a little easier for me. A couple weeks ago, one of Apple's updates to the Mac (OS X Yosemite) included photos in the cloud. Now I don't have to email the iPhone photos to myself so that I can blog them. The only downside is that there's a lot of photos that I don't mean to keep forever. You know like pictures of my feet...
A Love/Hate Relationship Story
It was January of 2012 when I took this picture. It was my attempt to say goodbye to my snacks and remember them as they were. I can't believe all these snacks were ever in my house all at once for this photo op. In my defense, I did not buy all of those. Some had been given to me weeks prior for my birthday.
Mother of Son: Guilty as charged.
I had an aha moment and realized that husbands are helpless patients when they are sick because their mother's babied them.
I can just picture my mother-in-law as I was this weekend.
That moment when you're trying to read...
Yesterday, I wanted to keep Christopher inside to minimize his pollen exposure until he left for an outdoor birthday party. I was also trying to read a book and it was good!
The Secretary Has A Story
Hopefully if you're reading this post, you're picking up where I left off with my last one, A Photo Story featuring The Secretary.
If not, you're not missing any background story, except for knowing who "the secretary" is. While I was writing for the Finish the Sentence Friday prompt, I dug up a bit of history by asking my mom a question. By the time I got to "The Secretary" in my post - I had another story to tell.
A Photo Story featuring "The Secretary"
I have a whole photo album of pictures I stole from home after I got married and my husband and I were moving out of the country. I can always remember how old I was by looking at my hair. This picture was taken on Christmas morning 1984. I was in the 9th grade and had just turned fourteen...
Eyebrows 101: DIY
Remember my post a couple weeks (2 posts ago) about being vain? As you see I have no problem sharing this photo. There seems to be a difference in sharing a photo that you tried really hard to look good for and one that took no effort at all. 'Sup with that? Anyhoo... Let's talk eyebrows...
I Get Ocean Withdrawal
I'm not a beach person per se, but I do love the look, the smell and the sound of the ocean.
I grew up just a few short hours from Myrtle Beach and Charleston, South Carolina. My family would go to the beach at least once during the summer for a day trip or a weekend and I was always in awe of the ocean.
I'm Vain...
This post took more than five minutes with all the bells and whistles ("pictures", bold, italics and spellcheck). But this was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post on being vain. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump.
10 Things Fish Tank Owners Wish They Knew Earlier
Behind the scenes of what looks beautiful but isn't very pretty. If I had known just five things, I wouldn't have said "yes" to being the mom of a fish tank and you'd never know my story...
5 Minutes: No sleep
I'm squeezing in a stream of consciousness post before my day gets hopping.
Oh it's already been hopping.
Here's that story...
Back door blogging...
A Terrible Privilege...
This post was unexpected. Almost a month ago I shared my story about a compassionate teacher with #1000Speak. My daddy shared it on Facebook several times. One of his friends commented how he could relate to my story because he had attended an all white school before schools were desegregated. He called it "a terrible privilege". I could relate.
Fake Reading...
I've been itching to come around and say hello, but there is one thing I cannot do and blog at the same time. I cannot read and blog. My niche should have been book blogging, but then I may not have as many friends...
The cost of a mug shot...
I can’t believe how much it cost to get a passport. Geez. I guess the good news is that it doesn’t expire for a long time. But within that time, you might want to use it and get your monies worth.
So, we went to go apply for passports today. I’d been reminding Papa Bear that we needed to do this ever since we first planned our trip. I finally just let it go. If he wants to pay extra to rush them, then so be it. I stopped nagging.
Finally last week out of the blue he said he made an appointment for us to apply...
Kenya G. Johnson - Blogger EST. 2010
I'm linking up with Tuesday Ten where we are sharing the first ten post we wrote on our blogs.
My first ten posts on this website were written between June and October of 2010. Back then my URL was postconfidential(dot)blogspot(dot)com and my blog title was Sporadic Publication.
I signed my first post with my name backwards Aynek Noillag Nosnhoj.
I wrote in one ginormous paragraph and I had no readers. My mom and dad didn't even know about my blog.
So here we go.
The Best Film I've Ever Seen (in one year)...
For the first time in my life, I have seen all the Oscar Best Picture nominations BEFORE the show goes live. I know right? I've always wanted to do that and print off the list and ballot online to mark down who I think will win. So yeah, I can't wait to sit down and watch the show.
A Story of Compassion...
This post today is very special because 1000+ people from all around the world will be sharing their voices about compassion. Today I am 1 in 1000 who signed up to share what compassion means to me. Today I am part of a movement.
Dem Dry Bones...
My back started hurting Sunday night. I've used the heating pad three times in the last 24 hours and have taken several showers to loosen up my joints.
